Welcome to the World, Helen!

The biggest news since September 14th, 2008 was made on Sunday June 28th. Helen Lucille Fernandez made her entrance into the world around 3 AM. Helen is my very first niece and Nathan's very first cousin!

On the morning of Saturday June 27th, I got a call on the way to my morning live shot. It was Stephanie asking about some cramps she had been having overnight. Holy cow, Steph! You're in labor!!! That phone call came at about 7 in the morning. By 11, Stephanie and her hubby, David, made their way to the hospital. As she was being monitored to determine if they would admit her, her water broke. Oh yes... Welcome to the Hospital, Stephanie!

Stephanie didn't start pushing until around midnight. And after pushing for two hours with no progress, the doctor said it was time to go in after Helen. C-Section time. She just wasn't dropping and the whole situation was getting too stressful. By 3 AM, Helen entered the world weighing in at 7 lbs, 13 oz and 22.5 inches long. She weigh exactly 1 lb less than Nate and was the exact same length as him. And if you know anything about a newborn's length.... 22.5" is considered very long!

She's been doing well but has been battling issues with jaundice even with another quick stay at the hospital just this past Sunday and Monday. We're hoping that issue has finally been resolved.

We'll be down to Texas at the end of the month to meet Helen for the first time. Aunt Stephanie and Uncle David will also get to meet Nathan for the first time. I couldn't be more excited! We've already decided that Chris and I will be going on a double date with Steph and David while we're there.... leaving Nana and Pa with both babies!! Woo hoo!
