A Weekend Full of Friends!

It's not every weekend that we get to see three different sets of friends... but it happened this weekend! We had a jam-packed two days.

The fun began Saturday afternoon after nap time with a trip to see Brian and Tracy. We met them at a friend's house to watch the Iowa-Wisconsin game. According to my husband, these pictures will be the only time you will see our son in a Wisconsin Badgers shirt (courtesy of Melissa). Nathan had a great time running circles around the house we were at and flirting with all the ladies there. Tracy was lucky enough... or at least fast enough... to grab Nate and get a semi-hug. She's got skills!

On Sunday, we spent the day with the Blumhagens. It was time to take little Gideon to his very first pumpkin patch.

We visited Center Grove Orchard in Cambridge, IA. I was so impressed with the orchard. It was clean and neat and lots of fun! They do charge about $8 if you want to try out some of the activities they have, including an animal farm, a corn pool, a huge pillow to jump on, an apple sling shot, etc. Or you can just ride the hayride out to the pumpkin patch and pick out your pumpkin with no charge (except for buying the pumpkin). Nate was not a fan of the corn pool. In fact, it brought him to tears. But he loved looking at the animals (especially the chickens... maybe because he's a chicken nugget lover??)...

and exploring the 3 little pigs houses.

And of course, how could he not love the hayride to the pumpkin patch?? Anything that involved trappers (aka. tractors) is a hit with this kid!

We had a fun time searching for our pumpkin, but definately had to watch out for the vines. Little Nate kept tripping! In the end, we found our perfect pumpkin and now we look forward to carving it on Saturday!

The weekend ended with dinner with the Olsons! We brought over a lasagna to share and Christi made a delicious pumpkin roll. It was nice to sit and chat with Dave and Christi... and Jenna has become such a great babysitter! She kept Nate occupied and wore him out, so he fell asleep easily that night. Love it!
