62.3" of SNOW
We've had quite the winter here in Iowa. Breaking records left and right. We are now at 62.3" of snow for the year. Our winter average for snow is 36.1".
Up until this point in the winter, we've had the most snowfall to date EVER.
#2 is 1904-1905 with 52.8". #3 is 1885-1886 with 50.6".
We've had 76 consecutive days of at least 4" or more of snow depth. That's a new record. The old record was 61 consecutive days in 1979.
We are 5th place for the most snowfall in an entire winter. The #1 year is still 1911-1912 with 72". So if we get 10 more inches of snow this winter, we'll tie or beat the record. On average, we get 8" in February (we've had already 19" this February), 4.4" in March, and 2.6" in April.
This is a picture of Nate and I on March 17th (my birthday) last year... Notice we are sitting in the grass. My birthday is 18 days away... do you think we'll be sitting in the grass this year?

Ok, I know it's been a while, but what did our final record totals end up being for this winter? Most consec. number of days with 4 or more inches? And total amount of snowfall? We took a break and escaped to FL right around the time you posted this, and when we got back the snow looked like it had melted quite a bit. So I kind of lost count. But I'd still be interested to know, if you have the final stats.
