All Fixed... The Healing Begins

Nathan Before Surgery

Thursday morning's surgery went really well with no complications. It was so sad to see him so groggy following the surgery. He would wake up slightly every so often and whimper.

Nathan After Surgery

We were home by noon. Nathan has a huge hard bandage with the catheter coming out of it. We are double diapering him, so that the catheter hangs through the inner diaper and into the outer diaper.

He's talking and walking and crawling and climbing like he always has. The huge bandage just gets in his way sometimes.

Every once in a while, he will all of a sudden shreek and start crying really hard. I think those are the bladder spasms that his doctor told us may occur. That's really the only times he seems in pain. But it's pretty hard to deal with as he's inconsolable in those moments.

It's a pain to change him as his outer diaper is constantly filling up with urine. And the urine continues to drip out of the catheter as we change him. It's really a two-person job. Sometimes he's just fine during a change, other times he's freaking out and crying hard.

He woke up about 4 or 5 times last night, just crying hard in pain. There was a lot of rocking and comforting overnight last night.

The doctor has told us just to give him infant tylenol for pain. Nothing special. He also gave us a prescription to help with the bladder spasms. This seems to be helping.

We go in on Monday morning to have the bandages removed. That should be interesting. I know he's going to be in a fit during that. As of now, he's supposed to have the catheter in for two weeks.

That's the latest update. We're praying that tonight goes easier and Nathan sleeps more.
