Trip to the Tulips

The first weekend of May is always the town of Pella's Tulip Time Festival. And every year, you never know what you'll get with the weather! Because of that, it's been a few years since Chris and I ventured down. The first year we went was in 2007. The weather was gorgeous! Sunny and warm enough for shorts sleeves. Since then, the weather has been miserable... cloudy, cold, rainy, and windy!

Finally.... this year, arrived.... the forecast: Sunny and 76! So once I finished my early morning live shot, Chris drove down to Pella with Nathan and we spent the day, smelling the tulips.

Nathan was a little unsure when they arrived and that resulted in this picture:




Eventually, Nate warmed up to the idea of taking his picture in front of the tulips and was running from bed to bed, asking to have his picture taken. It was pretty hilarious.

Not too happy.

Happy.

Happier.

Nate even had some time before his photo opportunities to pause and smell the tulips.

There is so much to do in Pella during Tulip Time... craft fairs, stores are open, Dutch Letters in bakeries for eating, Dutch Dancing, and even some museums to check out. And don't forget the 2 hour long parade! (We were too exhausted to stay for that!)




On a side note, Nate has really been wanting some sunglasses. We found some kids glasses at the West Market in Pella. Nate promptly broke them 1 hour after purchase..... But he really liked wearing them until then. I was shocked he was keeping them on his face!
